2024 - 2025 Season

Celebrating 45 Years of Dance

Canyon Concert Ballet (CCB) is thrilled to announce its 2024 - 2025 season, “The 45th Anniversary Season.” This season will be CCB’s largest and most ambitious celebration of this milestone. It is the third season curated by Artistic Director Michael Pappalardo, forging an ever-growing and accomplished dance company for Northern Colorado. With the vision of delivering cutting-edge dance and traditional favorites, Pappalardo’s 2024 - 2025 season has something for everyone.

The Crucible.

This ballet is based on events of the 1692 Salem Witchcraft Trials and is a powerful and timeless depiction of how intolerance and mass hysteria can tear a community apart. The story centers on a farmer, John Proctor, whose wife is accused of witchcraft by their former servant, Abigail. Abigail, along with a group of young women, suddenly find their words have an almighty power. As a climate of fear, vendetta and accusation spreads through the community, no one is safe from trial.

The ballet features expressive choreography that provides a haunting representation of a marriage full of pain and resentment in the fallout of Proctor’s affair contrasted with the lust and rage of a scorned lover, Abigail.

The Lincoln Center, Magnolia Theater Fort Collins - March 13 - 15, 2025

Giselle.

For our classical spring ballet, CCB will stage the iconic Giselle. Giselle is a haunting story of innocence and betrayal – a timeless tale about the redemptive power of love. The ballet tells the story of a peasant girl named Giselle whose ghost, after her premature death, protects her lover from the vengeance of a group of evil female spirits called Wilis. The decorative sets and beautiful costumes will entrance audiences in this compelling story of unrequited love, heartbreaking loss, and triumphant forgiveness.

On the mainstage of the Lincoln Center in Fort Collins, the company will bring the best of modern dance to life. A Colorado premier, Val Caniparoli, brings ‘Swipe’ to the stage. Deborah Weiss at Dance Europe notes that  “Caniparoli’s work is internationally recognized… Swipe is packed with originality, utilizing every possible extremity.” Carla Escoda at the Huffington Post said it was“… fresh and compelling choreography… pure reaction to the driving beat”  This is a show not to be missed.
