Colorado Gives Day 2019!

December 9, 2019 by Canyon Concert Ballet

Donate Today Here!

This year marks Canyon Concert Ballet’s 40th Anniversary (our Ruby Anniversary!) as a nonprofit organization serving the Northern Colorado community.  For forty years, we have been bringing dance experiences to tens of thousands of people of all ages.  It has been an honor, and we are so excited for the next forty years as Northern Colorado’s nonprofit dance school and ballet company!

Our School teaches almost 400 dancers of all ages and abilities every month the joy of dance.  Our Company puts on stellar performances with gorgeous choreography, including our annual The Nutcracker with the Fort Collins Symphony.  And our Youth Ensemble teaches teamwork, while providing invaluable performance experience.

We invite you to support Canyon Concert Ballet this year with a donation in honor of our 40th Anniversary!  We remain incredibly grateful to you, our supporter, who allows us to continue providing dance to the Northern Colorado community.  It is thanks to generous people like you that we are able to provide dazzling performances for the community and a vibrant dance school for all ages and abilities who wish to learn dance.

Please make an investment today, and help us reach our goal of $4,000 for our 40th Anniversary, for both the future dancers of the world, and to help us continue providing professional performances!

From all of us at Canyon Concert Ballet, we would  like to wish you a wonderful holiday season full of family, friends, and, of course, dance!

Thank you – You keep us dancing!

~Jenna Riedi, Executive Director

We also strongly believe in collaboration in the local arts community, fusing dance with other art forms in Fort Collins to bring dance to more people and make dance more accessible.

– Where: Illegal Pete’s, 320 Walnut St, Fort Collins, CO 80524
– When: Wednesday, January 30 starting at 8pm and ending around 10pm

About Geeks Who Drink Pub Quizzes:

– Geeks Who Drink is a homegrown Pub Trivia Quiz modeled after those in Ireland and the UK.
– Our quizzes cover everything from celebrities in trouble to wordplay to bad television. You can get a feel for the questions we ask by playing a sample round here.
– Each quiz has two audio rounds: a “Name that Tune” style round, and another round comprised of soundbites from movies and TV.
– Play in teams of up to six or by yourself if you’re some kind of savant. All ages are welcome!
– If you want to play but don’t have a team, come anyway. We can usually get single players recruited onto an existing team.
– Winning teams gets street cred, bar cash and other prizes depending on the venue. Bonus Questions for free pints are sprinkled throughout the quiz.
– You don’t have to be a trivia God to enjoy the quiz. Since you’re playing on a team, the collective knowledge base makes for more fun, less pressure!

Outreach Opportunities:  Collaboration

CCB does not believe that financial limitations should be an obstacle to dance, so we provide several outreach opportunities:  Scholarship Program, Free Voucher Program, and Free Community Events.  We also strongly believe in collaboration in the local arts community, fusing dance with other art forms in Fort Collins to bring dance to more people and make dance more accessible.  Learn more about our Collaborations:

Collaborations

With every company show, Canyon Concert Ballet partners with at least one other local artist or arts group.  In the 2017-18 season, we partnered with NoCo Artists for our Ballet, Bach, & Beer production; the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra and Centennial Children’s Chorus for our The Nutcracker production; and local pianist Silvana Santinelli for our spring production of Les Sylphides & Etudes.

This season, we have partnered with local dancers Matthew and Madeline Harvey, Larimer Chorale, and local artist Matthew Mahern for our 2nd Annual Ballet & Beer production, will once again partner with the Fort Collins Symphony and Centennial Children’s Chorus for The Nutcracker, and are partnering with local dancers Jenna Smith and Isaac Mueller for our spring production of The Little Mermaid.

CCB firmly believes that collaboration is key to exciting the community and bringing dance to new audiences.  It is a core part of our mission and a key piece in providing dance performances to Northern Colorado.

Free Community Events

Canyon Concert Ballet recognizes that not everyone can afford tickets to a ballet production, and that some do not know there is a ballet company in Fort Collins.  To bring dance to those who do not know, or cannot attend, a full production, CCB performs several times a year for free for the general public.  Examples include at First Friday Art Walk (at The Artery), at Poudre School District schools, First Night Fort Collins (at Opera Galleria) at local senior centers, and at the Poudre Library.

Free Voucher Program

This season, Canyon Concert Ballet is providing up to 500 free vouchers to our Nutcracker matinees on December 1, 2018 at the Lincoln Center.  Students on free and reduced lunch and students who have never seen a ballet are being targeted at both local charter schools and in partnership with Poudre School District arts teachers.

In addition to K-12 students in the local community, CCB has also partnered with Colorado State University’s C-Sharp study, which focuses on the impacts of attending performing arts events on the cognitive performance, well-being, and quality of life for people with cognitive impairments like dementia.  In this partnership, CCB is providing 60 free tickets (30 to The Nutcracker, and 30 to The Little Mermaid) for people with cognitive impairments to see the performances and be part of this very important study.
