We are so excited for the upcoming intensives and for your dancer to learn from our amazing guests and teachers. This email is to inform you about what your dancer can expect and will need for the intensives. On the first day of the intensive (Monday 6/10 or Monday 6/17) the school will open at 8:30am. You will then receive your goodie bag that will have your schedule, shirt and other fun goodies. That first day your dancer will also be placed at a level for the week. For those who are current CCB students, your current level will be used to place you for the week. If you are new to CCB you will be placed at a level for the day based on your age and experience- at the end of the day students will be assessed to ensure they are at a level that will be both fun and challenging for them.

During the showcase each class will portray a fun and lively work of art from the museum! These performances give dancers the opportunity to showcase what they’ve learned throughout the year. Canyon Concert Ballet has Contemporary 1 classes, taught by Ms Cassie and Ms Alta. Learn more about this fun dance class!
What is Contemporary? Contemporary dance is a fluid dance style that blends ballet and jazz dance. A contemporary dancer uses movement to express strong emotions such as love, joy and anger, and usually perform to music with lyrics…the lyrics of the chosen song serve as inspiration for movements and expressions. Music may consist of many genres including pop, rock and hip hop. Movements in contemporary dance are characterized by fluidity and grace, with the dancer flowing seamlessly from one move to another, holding finishing steps as long as possible. Leaps are exceptionally high and soaring, and turns are graceful and continuous.
Class Description: This class is designed to introduce the young dancer to Contemporary Technique. Contemporary is a term to describe a broad and ever changing style of dance that draws from Ballet, Modern and Jazz Techniques. Ages 7+
