Class Spotlight: Modern 2

January 21, 2019 by Canyon Concert Ballet

Canyon Concert Ballet currently has one Modern 2 class, taught by Ms Analia.  Learn more about this fun dance class!

Class Description:  This course will introduce and provide the young dancer with the fundamentals needed for Modern Technique. This is equivalent to a ballet 4+ level.

What is your favorite part about this class?

What makes my heart jump when I teach Modern 2 is the playfulness the dancers feel they are able to take when it comes to their creativity and technique. Modern 2 is one of the first experiences the dancers gets to improvise and begins to explore their artistic voice. I get to see their curiosity grow while they are learning a new technique, during this class you can see each dancer take ownership over their artistry.

Which song is your favorite to dance to in this class?

I can’t say I have a favorite song but my favorite thing is to expose the dancers to different sounds, rhythms and culture through the music played In class. Having an opportunity to add these different musical tempos and instruments really allows the dancers to become better listeners and performers- they love the fast drumming music.

How long have you been teaching dance?

I started teaching dance 18 years ago and unlike many I started teaching modern dance before I started teaching ballet, I love teaching it all!

Anything else you’d like people to know about this class?

This class truly celebrates the dancers individuality, I think that’s why the dancers are so attracted to it and why once they start modern dance they don’t stop.  It is a freeing experience, where even though a specific technique is being taught once uniqueness is an inspiration to all.

Modern 2 happens Tuesdays at 6:30pm at the Conifer Studio.  Register for Modern 2 class today!
