FACULTY

Corina Gill

Ms. Gill began training near her home town at Black Mountain Dance Center when she was about 10. At 16, Gill graduated from high school and was accepted into the University of California, Irvine’s well-known dance program on scholarship. In 2002 she received her bachelor’s degree in dance and married her husband. She danced in several ballet companies including San Diego Ballet, State Street Ballet, Ballet Pacifica and Ballet Tech before joining Los Angeles Ballet at its launch in 2006. While there, she was honored to dance many principal roles and was coached by codirectors Colleen Neary and Thordal Christiansen. Gill attributes these years to one of the periods of the most growth in her professional career.

In 2009, Gill auditioned for her dream company, Boston Ballet and Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen offered her a position in the corps de ballet. Since joining, she has been able to enjoy a large variety of types of ballets and roles including many soloist and principal opportunities. In 2012 she was featured in Dance Magazine’s “Dancer Spotlight” by Ashley Rivers, and in 2015 she completed her master’s certificate in nonprofit management. Most recently, Gill danced the technically challenging and emotional “Belong” pas de deux by Norbert Vesak. Mary Hierholtzer of the New Boston Post said, “she excelled in the demanding role that requires strength, intricate technique, gracefulness and emotional intimacy.” Gill was promoted to second soloist in 2016.

Gill has taught in various ballet schools throughout her career. For the past two years she taught in Boston Ballet school’s prestigious summer program as well as yearround. She has taught masters classes including Swan Lake master classes for adults. Gill enjoys teaching and believes that through teaching she is still learning how to develop her own craft, as well as that of the students.

Ms. Corr is currently the Ballet Mistress and an Advanced and Company ballet instructor.  She recently retired from the Dance Department at Colorado State University, where she instructed ballet technique and staged classic works, along with her own contemporary choreography.
