The Youth Ensemble at CCB is designed for the dedicated dancer who desires performance opportunities beyond the annual Spring Concert and our holiday performance of The Nutcracker. Dancers may choose to incorporate modern, lyrical, jazz and musical theater dance forms into their dance education and may also be offered the opportunity to perform at community events throughout the year. Our dancers exhibit gracious professionalism at all times and we are strongly committed to age-appropriate music, costuming and choreography.
Youth Ensemble Commitment
Youth Ensemble members will spend the Summer months preparing for a repertory and ballet performance in the Magnolia Theater in the Lincoln Center each August. Rehearsal times vary, but are usually twice each week, throughout the summer. Youth Ensemble participants are required to enroll in at least one class or ballet intensive week at CCB each Summer.
Our Youth Ensemble members enjoy participating in regional dance competitions as a team twice per year. Those dancers who have the resources to do so are also supported in their decision to participate in additional competitions as an independent competitor. Competition participation is optional.
In keeping with the CCB Mission & Vision, the Youth Ensemble is dedicated to a high level of dance education and artistically enriching performances. If a dancer is chosen to participate in a non-ballet solo, duet or group piece, they will also be required to enroll in a class that corresponds to that dance discipline during the Fall and Spring semesters.
